Gregg Piller

Drums

Gregg has been involved with music for as long as he can remember having grown up in a home where it could be found everywhere. He has been singing in choirs since grade school and at age 15, he started playing the drums and took to them naturally. Within a year he was in his first gigging band alongside his older brother who played Bass. They played events such as high school talent shows and parties and the band would also give him his first taste of playing in a club setting.

Since then, he has been involved with numerous bands that have played music ranging from Rock, Jazz/Fusion, Hip-Hop, Electronic and has also sat in with some Folk bands on occasion. He started singing and playing the drums while in high school with his second band that played mostly originals. Because of this, he has had a ton of experience wearing multiple hats. As he grew older, he wanted to get more heavily involved with working bands and therefore began gigging with his father, Bassist/Singer Donald Piller, as often as he could. Pulling from a large amount of influential drummers such as Buddy Miles, Mitch Mitchell, Clyde Stubblefield and Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, he considers himself to be more of a “pocket drummer” who will rarely take a 15 minute long drum solo unless the song absolutely calls for it. He also prides himself on being the type of musician that will do his homework before a gig and will leave his ego in the car. Being a true believer in the idea that everything happens for a reason, he couldn’t be any more thankful for the opportunity to play in this band regardless of the doors that have opened or closed.
